Imported from Spain in 2023 to Australia as a 5 year old, Cortesano RT brings with him new bloodlines to expand the PRE breeding lines in Australia. His heritage represents older lines that are etched in history and have been pivotal to the development of the classic Spanish horses available today.

Cortesano RT descends from a long line of smaller, boutique Spanish PRE studs. His heritage stems back to Emperador XLVIII and Lebrijano III from Yeguada Militar in Jerez. Lebrijano III is one of the most influential stallions in PRE history for producing successful dressage horses. Lebrijano III being the sire of Invasor II and grand sire of Fuego De Cardenas – both Spanish representatives at WEG and the Olympic games.

The Yeguada Militar de Jerez de la Frontera, known as Yeguada Militar, is a military Spanish stud farm headquartered in Andalusia, Spain, dedicated to horse breeding of purebred Andalusian horses.

Founded in 1847, it became the state military stud farm in 1893. In the 20th century, as need for cavalry horses declined, the stud's emphasis shifted to become a genetic reservoir to preserve the bloodlines of the Pure Spanish Horse and to continue to breed high quality with stallions being made available to private horse breeders to improve the horses of Spain.

The stallions are selected for service after being put through rigorous testing so that only the best stallions are represented. The stud has an agreement with the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art to train the stallions and provide horses for exhibition and dressage competition.

This linage is known for being strong and sturdy with exceptional temperaments. Cortesano RT represents his heritage astutely. A wonderful sweet, calm and personable character, he offers incredible comfort, trainability and rideability under saddle. Classically correct in conformation and movement, Cortesano RT is a stunningly beautiful young stallion who is simply a joy to ride and handle.

In his first year of competition in Australia, ridden and trained only by Tania, Cortesano RT has consistently scored over 70% in dressage and is the current Adelaide Hills Dressage Club Preliminary Champion, winning on 74% and a big margin from his other competitors. Cortesano RT’s trainable temperament has seen him progress quickly from Preliminary to competitive Elementary dressage in several short months.

Cortesano RT is proving that he has the mechanics, temperament, trainability and pedigree to produce top quality Spanish foals of the like.

Cortesano RT will be available via Private Treaty to approved mares for season 2024-25.
